Athletics Australia has published the Selection Policy for the IAAF World Championships to be held in London (GBR) 4-13 August.
With the aim of nominating the most competitive athletics team to represent Australia at the IAAF World Championships, the policy is aligned with the Athletics Australia Strategic Plan and the Australian Institute of Sport’s Winning Edge Program.
It is the intention of Athletics Australia to nominate the maximum number of individual athletes and relay squads eligible within this policy, with the only caveat being that athletes show sufficient form and fitness to represent themselves and Australia to the best of their ability.
In those cases where more athletes qualify for an event than can compete under the IAAF Qualification System, the Athletics Australia Selectors will be guided by this policy and prioritise those athletes who are likely to be the most competitive, as determined in their sole and absolute discretion.
All athletes and coaches are strongly encouraged to download and read this document in full to ensure that they are aware of the complete selection process for the IAAF World Championships.
If you have any questions about this document, please contact the Athletics Australia High Performance Department on (03) 8646 4550.
All athletes seeking nomination are expected to complete an online nomination form using the "Online Nomination" button to the right.
