world u20 travel plan TRAVEL PLAN
Following selection onto the World U20 Team, athletes will need to confirm their travel plans (as outlined in the document to the left) with Athletics Australia by Monday 16 April.

PC accommodation  PERSONAL COACHES
Personal coaches have the option to book accommodation in Mannheim &/or Pajulahti with the Team. Please see the document to to the left for more information. Personal Coach accommodation requests need to be made via Athletics Australia by Monday 16 April.

CURRENCY
Both Germany & Finland use the Euro. Please ensure athletes come with a small amount of Euros (cash) as well as means of withdrawing additional money if needed. 

A travel card is a good option, major banks and post offices sell travel cards: https://auspost.com.au/travel-id/travel-money/travel-cards Qantas & Virgin Frequent Flyer cards also double as travel cards. 

 

TAMPERE - general information

ACCOMMODATION

Athletes and staff will be accommodated in a hotel organised by the IAAF. We do not expect to know the name of our hotel until May/June 2018. 

This hotel will strictly be for accredited athletes and team staff. There will be a designated meeting area nearby where family and friends can arrange to see athletes.

 

COMPETITION TRACK

The IAAF World U20 Championships  will take place at Tampere Stadium (also known as Ratina Stadium). Tampere Stadium is a Mondo surface.

pajulahti - general information
ACCOMMODATION & TRAINING
The Team will be based at Pajulahti Olympic Training Center. Accommodation, meals and training facilities will all be onsite. 
 

COMPETITION 
All athletes will have the option to compete in the Finnish Event Carnivals (1-2 July). More information on these competitions will be published on this page as it becomes available.

MANNHEIM U20 GALA (23-24 June)
The Mannheim U20 Gala is a high standard competition, contested by approximately 20 countries. Highlights of the 2017 Gala can be found here

TRAINING & COMPETITION 
Training and competition will take place at Michael Hoffman Stadium

TRANSPORT
Transport from the hotel to the track will be via public transport. Athletes will be required to walk to and from the tram or bus stop (accompanied by staff members). Please see google maps for more information: Hotel-Track

*Parents/family/friends are asked to please respect the Team environment and not book in at the Team Hotel.

Travel Insurance 
All WU20 Team Members will be covered by the AA travel insurance policy whilst they are with the Team. Any athletes who plan to go on holidays after the tour will need to take out travel insurance for their holiday.
