37th IAAF World Cross Country Championships Selection Policy

World Cross Country Championships Junior Teams:

In 2009 the Junior Team will be selected according to the criteria as set out on the Athletics Australia website and with an intention to send a strong team of worthy representatives. In 2010 and other World Junior Championships (Track) years it is the intention of Athletics Australia to focus the energies of our junior athletes on that event only. Only in exceptional circumstances will an individual athlete be chosen to represent Australia in both the World Cross Country and the World Junior Championships. No Junior Teams will be chosen in those years.

Alternately it is our intention to be as inclusive as we can in the selections for the NON World Championships years for the World Cross for both individuals and junior Teams. However junior athletes will still need to demonstrate they are of a sufficiently high standard to be worthy of representing their country and of benefiting from the event.

Each competition year will still have specific selection criteria which will determine the basis of the Selectors approach to that event. Athletes and coaches should ensure they read and understand the policy for the ensuing competition.
