12th IAAF World Junior Championships

Bydgoszcz, Poland

The 12th edition of the World Junior Championships will be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland in July 2008.

Bydgoszcz is a city with a population of 400,000, surrounded by forests and known for its technical architecture and green areas.

At 659 years old, Bydgoszcz is also famous for its cultural and academic institutions.

Altitude is 60m above sea level and the climate at the time of the World Junior Championships is rather mild with the average temperature about 25 degrees celsius and air humidity about 70 percent.

Seventeen Australian athletes have won gold at the World Junior Championships; at the last edition in Beijing , China in 2006, Robert Crowther (long jump) and Dani Samuels (discus throw) entered that group.

Jana Rawlinson has two World Junior gold medals to her name, winning the 400m and 400m hurdles in 2000.
