Beijing 2008 - Paralympic Games
Beijing, China
The excitement of the 2008 Olympic Games will be rejuvenated the following month when the world’s best athletes with a disability descend on Beijing.
Traditionally, Australia sends a very strong team and this year should be no exception.
In 2004,
Tim Sullivan,
Kurt Fearnley,
Richard Colman,
Amy Winters and
Katrina Webb claimed gold.
For Sullivan, it was a massive occasion - triumphing in the T38 100m, 200m, 400m and as a member of the T35-38 4 x 100m team.
Fearnley was inspirational in the T54 (wheelchair) 5000m and marathon events, completing the latter with a flat tyre, while Colman took the 800m crown.
Sprinters Amy Winters (T46 100m, 200m) and Katrina Webb (T38 400m) also did the most for their country.
