Fearnley, athletics.com.au win Australian Sport Awards

Kurt Fearnley of Newcastle has won the Sportscover Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability for the second consecutive year at the Australian Sport Awards, while athletics.com.au has been presented the SportingPulse Information Technology Award.

The Australian Sport Awards, now in their 28th year, are the only awards in Australia to recognise achievements across all sports in all areas of the sporting sector.

The awards were announced via a special online video presentation in conjunction with media partner SBS television at www.australiansportawards.com and www.sbs.com.au

Fearnley had an outstanding year in wheelchair sports, winning the 1500m event held at the IAAF World Championships in Osaka as well as a number of the iconic marathons around the world. He won the New York, Chicago, Paris and Seoul marathons in the one calendar year.

The Athletics Australia website underwent a significant rebuild to strengthen new brand awareness of Athletics Australia and its member associations, including a more structured presentation of information to improve service and cater for large cross-section of athletics people - athletes, coaches, officials and supporters. The website also presented free new media to visitors throughout the year including video and podcasts.

A complete list of award winners can be seen at the awards website. Further information on the awards is available on the awards website at www.australiansportawards.com.au
