Q & A with Coach Francis
Sports coaches and athletics enthusiasts have the opportunity to hear from the man behind world record holder
Asafa Powell.
Steve Francis, who has guided Powell to his world mark of 9.74, Commonwealth Games gold and an enviable record in international track, has brought a group of world class Caribbean athletes to Australia this summer.
The group also includes Mike Frater, Darrel Brown, Sherone Simpson, Ainsley Waugh, Melaine Walker, Nadia Cunningham, Andrew Hinds, Winston Smith and Gregory Little, who will all compete at Thursday night’s World Athletics Tour meet in Melbourne.
Francis’ success is by no means limited to Powell; Frater (2005) and Brown (2003) are World Championships silver medallists over 100m, while Simpson was the fastest woman over 100m in 2006.
Coach Francis’ coaching methods have attracted much interest over the years and he has generously made himself available for a Q & A session ahead of Thursday night.
All interested parties are welcome to attend. Please note it is first in best dressed.
