A baby boy for the McCanns

The athletics family in Australia extends its congratulations and sincere best wishes to Kerryn McCann and husband Greg on the birth of their son Cooper Patrick McCann.

Cooper was born at 11.15pm on Wednesday, six weeks premature at 34 weeks and weighing 2353g (5lb 3oz).

Cooper is a baby brother for Benton and Josie.

Doctors decided to induce the baby to enable Kerryn, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last month, to begin chemotherapy on Monday.

Everyone in Australian athletics wishes Kerryn the very best for her treatment.
