Applications open for R.W. Clarke Foundation

The R.W. Clarke Foundation is inviting interested athletes to apply for its 2008 grants.

Grants from the R.W. Clarke Foundation may be used to assist young athletes from 16 years of age (preferably under 23) to obtain competition at major domestic meets, including national championships and other high level competitions, and to participate in appropriate training camps.

Preference will be given to (but not restricted to) those athletes not already receiving support under Athletics Australia's High Performance Program, including Australian Commonwealth Games Association’s Junior Grants Program, Sports Commission DAS Scheme, institute/academy scholarships, or other foundation or trusts.

Athletes are invited to apply personally, in hand writing, mailing their application to:

R.W. Clarke Foundation
c/- Athletics Australia
Suite 22, 431 St Kilda Road
Melbourne VIC 3004

Faxed applications are not acceptable.

Applications will be considered by the R.W. Clarke Foundation selection panel, consisting of chairman (Ron Clarke’s nominee - presently Trevor Vincent), an Athletics Australia representative and one other nominated individual (presently Len Johnson).

Awardees will be expected to provide a report to the Foundation on their progress in the sport within 12 months of receiving assistance.

The closing date for applications is Friday, April 27, 2008.

Recipients of R.W. Clarke Foundation grants in 2007 were Sharyn Angel, Daniel Bailey, Adam Bevis, Werner Botha, Lisa Corrigan, Sam Crowther, Catherine Drummond, Richard Everest, Lexy Gilmour, Dylan Grant, Paul Hoffman and Kurt Mulcahy.
