Wind-assisted 10.18 for PJ in Hiroshima

Victory and an impressive 10.18 (+2.7) in Hiroshima this afternoon, has kickstarted Patrick Johnson's 2008 international campaign - unfortunately the 100m final was the only wind-affected race of the day, denying the AIS athlete of a second Olympic A-qualifier.

Justin Merlino also added another B-qualifier to his account in the 110m hurdles, stopping the clock in 13.64 (+1.6) to finish third in his final.

A number of Australian athletes will features in meets throughout Japan this week, with Johnson joining 400m hurdles specialists Brendan Cole and Lauren Boden in Shizuoka on Saturday.

Merlino journeys to Koshigaya on Sunday, alongside 200m runner Daniel Batman and long jumpers Robbie Crowther, John Thornell and Kerrie Taurima.
