Adam was a consistent performer for Australia since his debut at the 1994 world junior championships.
A regular member of the 4x100m team, he was part of the 2003 Paris world championships team that was awarded bronze, and also ran in the team at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
Adam is descended from Armenian royalty and starred in the pre-Athens Olympics edition of Black and White magazine.

Adam was coached by AFL strength and conditioning performance manager Adam Larcom and has trained with AFL ruckman Troy Simmonds.
Of Armenian descent, he has discovered that
his family's ancestors are of royal blood. Adam in Armenian is
Barseghian.
Prior to the 2004 Olympic Games, Adam posed in the
"Athen's Dream" edition of Black and White
magazine.
