In 2008, Hamish threw a PB in his favoured Javelin throw at the Melbourne Grand Prix (71.36m). He would then make his debut at the Open National Championships in Brisbane, after making it through the qualifying round (69.53m), Hamish would throw 70.19m and finish a credible 10th (7th Australian).
