Jarrod finished top eight in the Javelin Throw at the 2011 IAAF world championships, thanks to a season's best heave of 82.25m.
He entered the competition as the 2010 Commonwealth champion and the Australian record holder.

Jarrod was born in Townsville, North Queensland. He moved to Melbourne in early 2006 to train with then coach Garry Calvert in preparation for the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
His sister Helaina trains on the Gold Coast under Sharon Hannan and alongside Sally McLellan and competes at a national level.
