Interesting Facts

Pirrenee has a twin sister who is also a track and field athlete and remedial masseur, and who often develops the same injuries, at the same time, as Pirrenee. The sisters both suffered stress fractures in their right feet for two years until ending up having surgery by the same surgeon.

2009 – Returning to the sport after a two-year absence with stress fractures in her right foot, Pirrenee has been quick to make an impact on the national scene. Pirrenee placed second over 400m at the Sydney Track Classic in February (53.37) then finished fifth at the World Athletics Tour Melbourne (53.67). Her season culminated in setting a new personal best mark of 53.18 in Canberra and placing sixth (fourth Australian) at the national championships in March. Her comeback season caught the attention of national selectors and in May Pirrenee was on a plane to Osaka, joining Madeleine Pape, Jody Henry and Tamsyn Lewis in qualifying for the 4x400m relay at the world championships in a time of 3:28.97.
