Including athletes with a disability is everyone’s responsibility. Great clubs include people of all abilities and backgrounds anyway. There are many advantages to being inclusive. Clubs that include everyone have access to more members, more money, and better relationships with key local stakeholders.

All athletes will have different skills, abilities and attitudes. A good coach works with the entire range of all of their athletes, and makes the most of their individual differences. Coaching athletes with disabilities is no different. Being inclusive is simply being a good coach.

Officials play a significant role in inclusion by the way that they manage competitions. They have a legal and moral responsibility to ensure that all competitions are safe and fair regardless. They can easily assist to remove barriers to access and participation for all.
