Dale Stevenson was crowned Victorian state champion late March, his best effort of 19.34m enough to secure the title before heading to the Go for 2&5 88th Australian Athletics Championships in Perth mid-April.

A 19.67m throw by Dale at the Nationals ensured a silver medal, beaten only fellow Commonwealth Games nominee Scott Martin.
