Matt was a member of the inaugural Australian Flame team at the 2009 IAAF world championships in Berlin (GER).
Matt played soccer all through school before starting running due to knee injuries sustained in his last years of secondary school. He started serious sprint training only after leaving school.
After a two-year absence from the sport in 2006 and 2007 Matt made a return to the athletics scene.
Matt’s nickname is ‘BoyBand’.
