The National Junior High Performance Program aims to provide junior athletes with pathways to best assist their development into senior international athletes. Elite junior athletes and their personal coaches are given access to educational sessions, coaching assistance and medical screening and support.
The National Under 17 Development Squad
Launched in 2006 this squad consists of under 17 aged athletes in each discipline selected on potential and is renewed annually.
The National Under 19 Talent Squad
This squad commenced in 2007 and focuses on athletes who the selectors identify as having the ability to take the next step to international success as a senior athlete.
The National 21s Squad
A new addition to the junior programs in 2010, the national 21s program is designed to develop the international experience of the post junior elite athletes who still display the potential to achieve success on the international stage.
Junior International Teams
Each year the Junior High Performance program supports the inclusion of an Australian Team at international championships. Through this program athletes are supported to the IAAF world junior championships, the IAAF world youth championships, the Commonwealth Youth Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
