Winner of last year’s Cixi City event, Deakes took the win showing great form. He will be looking to hold out team mate and challenger Luke Adams this year
  • Australia select large team for the 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships
    A total of 52 athletes have been selected, with the team size likely to increase with further selections in July. The additional selections should ensure the team is the largest ever World Junior team to compete overseas, surpassing the 53 selected to compete in the 1994 World Junior Championships held in Lisbon. The largest ever Australia World Junior team numbered 59, when they competed on home soil in Sydney in 1996.

For many years Brian was a key member of the Athletics New Zealand officiating scene and his contribution to the Technical Officials area in New Zealand and indeed Oceania will be unlikely to be surpassed in our lifetime
