Held on the third Sunday of September each
year, the City-Bay Fun Run has risen to be an
iconic South Australian event to kick start Spring.
The event covers 3 distances –
12km from the City to the Bay, a
6km from Kurralta Shopping Centre and a
3km from the Morphettville Race course. The
three distances and courses are developed to accommodate for
everyone in the community; from families to serious road
runners.
The 2009 City-Bay Fun Run boasts
$30,000 in prize money of which $4,000 is
awarded to first male & female across the line.
Each year, the thousands of walkers and runners fill up Colley and
Wigley Reserves on the shore front suburb of Glenelg and enjoy a
freshly baked breakfast and a well deserved massage.
Entertainment is provided with the ability to keep an eye on fellow
runners via live feed on the big screen.
Organisers are pleased that the message of
being active is starting to filter through to so many South
Australians. They urge that people to meet the
challenge by entering the City-Bay Fun Run on-line for a discounted
price or by filling in a form from the Sunday Mail.
Training sessions are held at Santos Stadium on Wednesday nights
commencing on July 1 and again on Sundays at Port Adelaide Athletics Club.
