Flame to burn bright on day four

Six Australians will feature on day four of the 12th IAAF world championships in Berlin.

Beijing Olympic silver medalist Sally McLellan has been drawn in heat three for the heats of the women’s 100m hurdles, where she will take on dual world champion Michelle Perry of the United States. The first four across the line in each heat will automatically qualify for the semi-finals.

Three Australians will feature, with 2008 Olympic semi-finalist Joel Milburn out in lane eight in heat three, where he will meet perennial fourth-place getter Chris Brown of the Bahamas.

Commonwealth Games champion John Steffensen will line up in heat four where he will take on Olympic champion LaShawn Merritt of the United States.

Current national champion Sean Wroe will face off against Olympic finalist Martyn Rooney of Great Britain in the seventh and final heat.

World championships debutantes Benn Harradine (discus throw) and Petrina Price (high jump) will also compete in the qualifying rounds in the morning session.

Returning to action on day four of the titles is Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sensation to feature in the much-anticipated heats of the men’s 200m.
