Flame in the heat of finals action on day seven
Three Australians will feature in finals on day seven of the 12th
IAAF world championships in Berlin.
Australia will present a two-pronged attack in the men’s 50km walk
at 9:10am Berlin time (17:10 AEST).
After finishing sixth in the 20km walk on Saturday, dual Olympic
medallist
Jared Tallent returns to Brandenburg
Gate for the gruelling 50km event.
Joining him on the start line will be fellow Australian
Luke Adams, who finished 10th in Beijing and will
be keen to improve on his 18th place in the 20km on Monday.
Warm conditions are once again expected to welcome the walkers with
the Russians, Norwegians and Chinese expected to be right in the
mix with the Australians in vying for a spot on the podium.

One throw was all it took for
Dani Samuels to
reach tonight’s discus final and declare herself a major contender
for the title. The world junior champion breezed through the
qualifying round, heaving her first throw 62.67m to advance.
The 21-year-old will be aiming for a top eight position when she
steps inside the cage at 20:20 (4:20 AEST) tonight, a goal she fell
agonisingly short of at last year’s Beijing Olympics in finishing
ninth.

men’s 4x100m relay. While the initial team has not been finalised
the four members will be drawn from the squad of

Aaron Rouge-Serret,
Anthony
Alozie,
Matt Davies and

To be staged at 19:30 (03:30 AEST), the top two in each heat along
with the next two fastest teams will progress to Saturday night’s
final.
