One week to go: Sydney tickets selling fast
With just one week to go before some of the biggest names in track
and field hit town for the 2010 Sydney Track Classic, it's time
for all athletics fans to get behind their favourite athletes along
the road to Delhi and get their tickets to the hottest show in
town.
With dual Beijing Olympics medallist
David Neville
(USA, 400m), 800m gun
David Rudisha (KEN,
400m/800m), Olympic, world championships long jump representative
and 2008 national indoor champion
Trevell Quinley
(USA, long jump) and former world champion and Olympic medallist
Tero Pitkamaki (FIN, javelin throw) already named
as starters for both the Sydney and Melbourne (Thursday, March 4)
Track Classics, the action is set to be fast and furious Down Under
this summer.
And it's not just the international contenders who will be
turning up the heat. Headlining an all-star line-up of local talent
will be Australia's very own world champions

teammates
Mitchell Watt (long jump),
Jared Tallent (walks),
Sean Wroe
(400m),
Ben Offereins (400m) and the nation's
top hopes for Commonwealth Games glory in New Delhi, India, in
October.
What's more, tickets to the Sydney Track Classic on Saturday,
February 27 and the IAAF-sanctioned Melbourne meet on Thursday,

Three rounds of action on the Australian Athletics Tour in
Canberra, Brisbane and Hobart have so far turned up a host of
outstanding results and the action will only get bigger and better
when the marquee rounds of the domestic series get under way.
Eight athletes have posted A-qualifying times on tour already this
season, with Australian Flame representatives Mitchell Watt (long
jump), Ben Offereins (400m), Dani Samuels (disucs throw),
Collis Birmingham (5000m),
Ryan
Gregson (1500m) and
Petrina Price (high
jump) joined by
Dale Stevenson (shot put) and
Liam Zamel-Paez in staking a claim for
Commonwealth Games selection.
With over 90 athletes expected to earn a call-up to the Delhi
squad, look out for some big performances when the Australia
Athletics Tour rolls into Sydney next weekend and on to Melbourne
next month.
After its best ever performance at a world championships in Berlin
in 2009, the Australian team will be one to watch in New Delhi this
October but our top track and field athletes need your help to get
there. Get down to Sydney Olympic Park on February 27 or Melbourne
Olympic Park on March 4 and show your support as we count down to
