OLYMPICS: Spark Parnov and Solomon to begin Olympic bid

Day 2 at the Olympic stadium sees Alana Boyd (WA) and Liz Parnov (WA) battle it out for a finals berth in the women’s pole vault (07:20pm AEST 04.08.12).

Boyd will launch her campaign in Group A, while Parnov, who arrives in London (GBR) fresh off a silver medal at the 2012 IAAF world junior championships, will soar in Group B.

Joining the Perth-based duo in the morning session are world junior championships bronze medallist Steven Solomon (NSW) in heat six of the men’s 400m (8:15pm AEST 04.08.12) and Florida Gator Genevieve LaCaze (Qld) in heat one of the women’s 3000m steeplechase (8:35pm AEST 04.08.12).

Athletics competition then moves out of stadium for the men’s 20km walk (2:00am AEST 05.08.12) where Jared Tallent (Vic), Adam Rutter (NSW) and Chris Erickson (Vic) will battle it out.

Back in the main arena Tristan Thomas (Tas) and Brendan Cole (ACT) will look to back up their stunning heat performances in semi-final two (4:08am AEST 05.08.12) and semi-final three (4:16pm AEST 05.08.12) of the men’s 400m hurdles respectively.

Joining them on track is Ben St Lawrence (NSW) in the final of the men’s 10,000m (6:15am AEST 05.08.12).

In the field, Dani Samuels (NSW) will look to again improve her season best in the women’s discus final (4:30am AEST 05.08.12) before Mitchell Watt (Qld) and Henry Frayne (Qld) joining 10 other jumpers for the final of the men’s long jump (4:50am AEST 05.08.12).
