Athletics Australia will today launch iCoach, a complete directory of Australia’s accredited athletics coaches that allows newcomers to the sport to find a suitable coach in their event and region.
Detailing all those coaches who boast qualifications as part of the National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS), the system also allows coaches to update theirindividual profiles as a means of selling their skills.
Dallas O’Brien, Athletics Australia Chief Executive, said: “This undertaking is a great way for people to interact with the thousands of talented coaches we have across Australia.
“It encourages coaches to be proactive in promoting what is essentially their track and field brand, with the iCoach system setup to allow complete control of what is made public via the search engine.”
iCoach is accessible via the Athletics Australia website. It allows for an individual to search for specific coaches, coaches of certain events in a region or at a club, as well as those coaches with qualifications in specific events that the athlete is interested in undertaking.
For coaches, iCoach will provide an interactive shop front. Accredited athletics coaches will have access to their profile with an individual username and password through CoachSpace.
CoachSpace allows for accredited athletics coaches to manage their iCoach profile, butalso pay their registration and accreditation to Athletics Australia, an option to join the Australian Track & Field Coaches Association, print their Certificate of Currency for insurance, catch up on the latest coaching news and events and importantly access the e-Learning portal for continual professional development.
O’Brien continued: “The delivery of iCoach and CoachSpace ensures that Athletics Australia provides continued support in the development of coaches skills across the country.
“It's an exciting step forward and we look forward to seeing so many in the athletics community interacting with what will be a fantastic tool.”
