The whispers are growing, the excitement is building, ZATOPEK:10 2008 is just around the corner.
The event, named after Emil Zatopek, the legendary distance runner who rose to prominence at the London Olympics in 1948 is the premiere distance event on the Australian calendar.
Distance greats such as Ron Clarke, Rob De Castella, Lisa Ondieki, Steve Moneghetti, Lee Troop and Craig Mottram have all stamped their mark on Zatopek.
In 2008 the questions will be asked; Can Austrian 5km record holder Gunther Weidlinger push Craig Mottram to an Australian 10km record? Can young Beijing Olympian and last year's winner Collis Birmingham upset them both? Is the Kiwi invader Belinda Wimmer in the women's 10km really as good as they say? Will Jeff Riseley exorcise the demons of Beijing? Can Beijing 400m semi-finalist Sean Wroe mix it with the sprinters in the 200m? And will Tamsyn Lewis reign supreme?
So many questions, one night jam packed with answers.
