Terms of Reference
The Facilities and Equipment Committee will advise the Athletics Australia Board on matters relating to athletics facilities, implements and equipment, including technical specifications.
Responsibilities
1. To answer specific questions from the athletics fraternity on facilities, implements & equipment issues;
2. To prepare technical policy documents as required for Board approval;
3. To prepare technical information papers for publication and issue by Athletics Australia;
4. To keep abreast of standards being developed by the IAAF Technical Committee for facilities, implements and equipment, and in particular the calibration of measuring equipment and starting blocks, and have these adopted in Australia; and
5. To monitor technology advances and advise on how these might be used for competitions in Australia.
Tasks
1. Review the Athletics Australia guidelines for the safety audit of athletics facilities and assist as necessary with the Athletics Australia programme of safety audits;
2. Assist the Athletics Australia Equipment Officer as necessary with the Athletics Australia annual programme of purchases for state members;
3. Assist Athletics Australia in identifying regional centres of excellence in accordance with the AA/ASC Review Report; and
4. Ensure that the measurements of major facilities in Australia meet the IAAF measurement report protocols.
