 International Tours Commission Terms of Reference 

Terms of Reference

The consideration and recommendation of all Team Management positions for teams travelling overseas, including section leader, head coach, team manager, assistant manager, team doctor, physiotherapists, masseurs, biomechanist.

Responsibilities

1. To recommend to the National Performance Manager appropriately qualified and trained personnel to manage all international touring teams;

2. To make recommendations to the National Performance Manager on matters relating to team preparation, training camps, funding of athletes, team testing prior to departure of touring teams;

3. To make recommendations to the National Performance Manager on matters of support for touring teams, including personal coach policy;

4. To review team management and athlete reports following the return of international touring teams and make recommendations that will assist the management of future teams;

5. Past practice has been for the recommendations from the International Touring Commission relating to major teams (Olympics, World Championships, World Junior/Youth Championships and Commonwealth Games) to be endorsed by the Board of Athletics Australia.  For smaller teams such as World Cross Country, Ekiden and smaller specific touring parties, the endorsement of the CEO has been sufficient.

Tasks

1. The most pressing task currently for this Commission is to re-establish itself after a five year lay off. The re-establishment was a major recommendation of the AA/ASC Review and is supported by Athletics Australia management.
