My Heroes fan zone rocks in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane
Since
Athletics Australia joined forces with
My Heroes last year, plenty of young fans have been connected with the stars of the sport through birthday cards, special occasion cards and prints.
However, those who attended the three big meets of the summer - the Sydney Grand Prix, World Athletics Tour Melbourne and 86th Australian Championships in Brisbane - were given a real treat thanks to the
My Heroes fan zone.
Some of the biggest names in Australian athletics including
Craig Mottram,
Scott Martin,
Tamsyn Lewis,
Jarrod Bannister and
Donna MacFarlane - all selected for this year’s Olympic Games - took some time out in the
My Heroes fan zone to greet their fans, have photos and sign autographs.
But it didn’t stop there.
The world’s fastest man,
Asafa Powell, sent the grandstand into a frenzy when he visited the
My Heroes fan zone at Sydney Olympic Park.
Powell, who competed over 100m in Melbourne, was a very popular visitor to Australian shores this year.
Despite having to withdraw from the Sydney meet to recover from a gash to his knee, the Jamaican could do no wrong off the track - creating smiles as big as his own.
The unique
My Heroes products available online at
myheroes.com.au have also attracted much attention and commemorative prints - ‘I saw the world’s best in 2008’ - were provided free of charge to the fan zone by
My Heroes and
Athletics Australia.
My Heroes is a terrific way to support your favourite Australian athlete’s road to the Olympic Games in Beijing.
They’re also a great gift idea and, with more images and athletes to be added in the coming months, it’s easy to connect a fan with their hero through
My Heroes.
