Peta loses her brave fight

The Australian athletics community is saddened by the passing of Peta Jurson (nee Kennedy), yesterday (Thursday 18 December) after a long and brave battle with melanoma cancer.

Peta was a former Australian long jump and heptathlon champion who competed at the 1988 IAAF World Junior Championships.

Peta was also a very talented netballer who represented the Melbourne Phoenix (2002/2003) and Melbourne Kestrels (1997/1998) in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy.
