Nominations open for 2009 Athletics Australia media awards

Athletics Australia presents two media awards aimed at recognising and rewarding the Australian media for their coverage and dedication to athletics.

Athletics Australia are calling for nominations for the following categories:

1. Outstanding Media Coverage of the Year

The ‘Outstanding Media Coverage of the Year’ award recognises an individual who has significantly contributed to the coverage of athletics.

The award will be bestowed upon the journalist or reporter who, as determined by the judging panel, has delivered comprehensive coverage, and whose work has been accurate, informative and newsworthy.

The winner will receive a trophy, $1000 cash plus a $250 Asics pack.

2. Outstanding Photograph of the Year

Photographers are invited to enter an image/s of their choice in the ‘Outstanding Photograph of the Year’ award category.

The photograph must be a published action shot of an Australian athlete, highlighting the skill, athleticism, emotion and drama of the sport and its athletes.

The winner will receive a trophy and a $500 2XU voucher.

Nominations close at 5pm (AEST) on Friday, 1 May 2009.

Winners will be announced on the Athletics Australia website on Monday, 18 May 2009.
