On the couch with Steve Francis

Athletics Australia, in conjunction with Athletics Victoria, invites you to spend an evening with Steve Francis, coach of some of the fastest sprinters in history.

Olympic gold medalists Asafa Powell (4x100m), Nesta Carter (4x100m), Michael Frater (4x100m), Shelly Ann Fraser (100m), Sherone Simpson (4x100m) and Melaine Walker (400m H) have all trained under Steve’s watchful eye as part of the Jamaican sprinting revolution.

Coach of multi-Olympians, multiple medallists and now multiple world record holders, Steve is in Australia to again begin Powell’s preparation for the international season ahead. In 2008 Powell was the only man to beat sprint powerhouse Usain Bolt and in that incredible year recorded the second fastest 100m of all time (9.72).

As the mastermind behind Melaine Walker, winner of the women’s 400m hurdles in Beijing, Steve will be asked the hard question: would she have beaten our own world champion Jana Rawlinson

Join Steve as he answers all this and more on Monday, March 2 at Melbourne Olympic Park.

When: Monday March 2, 2009
Time: 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Where: Backstage room, Melbourne Olympic Park
Cost: Free
RSVP: Michael Poulton – michael.poulton@athletics.org.au OR
Matt Griffin – matt@athsvic.org.au or 9428 8195
