Queensland Athletics appoints new CEO

The Board of Queensland Athletics has appointed Grant Cremer to the role of CEO.

Mr. Cremer has a strong background in athletics, winning a bronze medal in the 800m at the 1996 world junior championships and contesting the semi-finals of the same event at the 1999 world championships and Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. He is also the Australian 1000m record-holder, his time of 2:16.61 set in Stockholm, 2000, the best in national history.

Since retiring from competitive athletics Mr. Cremer has remained active in the sport. He boasts strong qualifications in event management, business administration and has coached a number of athletes at all levels. In recent times he has also been a Director of Athletics New South Wales.

David Keating, Chairman of Queensland Athletics said Mr. Cremer's appointment was a windfall for the association.

“We are particularly pleased to have Grant take up the position of CEO at this time. We look forward to his expertise, enthusiasm and innovative ideas supporting the growth and development of athletics here in Queensland.”

Mr. Cremer will commence his new role on December 7, 2009.
