Up, up and away with the Great Australian Run
Enter
online by
Friday, October 23 and go into the draw
to
win two entries and return flights from Australia to
Newcastle in the UK to participate in the 30th Great North Run –
the world’s biggest half marathon!
The Great Australian Run returns bigger and better
in 2009, with thousands of runners, joggers and walkers of all
levels set to participate in the name of fun, fitness, footy and
fundraising.
To be staged on
Sunday, November 29 the 15km fun
run will start and finish in Albert Park, and there are many ways
to get involved.
For starters, you can choose to walk it, jog it or race it.
The Great Australian Run is renowned for
attracting some of the world’s greatest distance athletes and this
year will be no exception. This provides a great opportunity for
you join the world’s elite on the start line, whilst targeting your
own goals such as a personal best time or even a race finish.
Plus, there are also
kids’ events and a
corporate challenge this year – so get your whole
family and work colleagues on board too.
The footy season may be over, but it’s not too late for your team
to finish on top. Back by popular demand in 2009 is the
Fittest Footy Fans Challenge.
Select your favourite AFL team when you enter
online and you register
to run for your club.
The first 30 male and female finishers for each club will have
their times averaged to determine the team with the fittest fans.
Prizes, including a $75 gift voucher from adidas, will be awarded
to the 60 runners from the winning team.
If you want your efforts to contribute to more than just your
fitness, why not raise funds for a charity of your choice via the
Everyday Hero website.
Choose a cause close to you and once you receive
confirmation of your entry set about persuading friends and family
to sponsor you - so much per kilometre or maybe a successful
finisher donation, or even perhaps a bonus for achieving a target
time - who knows so get creative! All those cents add up to dollars
and it makes a welcome income for your chosen charity.
