Prom country proves a real challenge

With 100km winds, the original 30km course taking in Mount Best was revised to a more compact 6km circuit for the 2009 Prom Country Challenge.

Competitors had to contend with fierce winds, natural obstacles and late changes to the proceedings but this did little to perturb the resilient and gallant runners, who were cheered on as they completed their own personal challenges.

A credit to the local communities, the race also became a strong spectator sport with local residents turning out to cheer on the valiant runners.

Thanks go particularly to the CFA and Victoria Police who provided support and appropriate advice to enable the event to go ahead despite the adversity of the day.
