Price is right on Briggs honour roll

Athletics Tasmania has announced the award winners from the 2010 Briggs Athletics Classic.

Athlete of the Meet bonuses for the three highest placings against the 2009 IAAF top lists were secured by:

1. $3000 – Petrina Price (NSW) – High jump: 1.90m (Ranking 43)
2. $1500 – Lauren Boden (ACTA) – 400m hurdles: 56.66 (62)
3. $500 – Ryan Gregson (NSW) – 1500m: 3:37.35 (73)

A total of 13 Commonwealth Games selection standards (A and B) were bettered at the meet with performance bonuses achieved by:

Commonwealth Games A-standard ($400) – Petrina Price, Ryan Gregson, Collis Birmingham (5000m), Dale Stevenson (shot put).

Commonwealth Games B-standard ($200) – Lauren Boden, Jarrod Bannister (javelin throw), Laura Cornford (javelin throw), Karyne DiMarco (hammer throw), Bronwyn Eagles (hammer throw), Mitch Kealey (1500m), Gabrielle Neighbour (hammer throw), Ellen Pettitt (high jump), Eloise Wellings (5000m).

Meet record bonuses ($250) were available in designated events and were achieved by Ryan Gregson and Collis Birmingham in winning the 1500m and 5000m respectively.

Another two meet records were set by Eloise Wellings (5000m) and Lauren Boden (400m hurdles).
