Up to 15,000 places are available for the opportunity to run with the world’s greatest distance runner, Haile Gebrselassie and Australia’s best, Benita Johnson and Craig Mottram in the Great Australian Run in Melbourne on 30 November 2008.
For Benita it will be the conclusion to a busy year-long programme, which takes its next step in this weekend’s women’s Olympic marathon. But come November and the multiple Australian record holder will be keen to add the 15km mark to her impressive list of achievements.
And you can be part of the moment as the race follows a unique 15km course past many of Melbourne’s city landmarks, such as the Yarra River, Flinders Street station, the Tan and St Kilda Road, starting and finishing on the Grand Prix Circuit in Albert Park,
There are no entry qualifications other than runners must have reached 15 years of age on the day of the event. As there is a strict limit of 15,000 entrants for this year’s event, entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
An important feature of the Great Run Series, sees charities source their own runners and encourage them to raise money for the cause with friends, family and business associates through their participation in the event.
Whilst the Great Australia Run, the latest addition to the Series, will also have its own designated charities, it is pleased to provide the opportunity for other charitable organisations to use the event for fund raising in this way.
