Hailing from Nambucca Heads, Lexie Brown will make her global debut at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships at just 14-years-old.
The lower arm amputee was encouraged to participate in multi-class sport by her primary school sports teacher Mrs Fenning and supported by her Nan, who always told her she would make it to the Paralmypics if she trained hard and kept her determination.
That encouragement has carried Brown to the eve of her global debut in New Delhi where she will contest the 100m and 200m T47, travelling outside of Australia for the first time as she discovers the world of international athletics as one of the youngest members on the team.
Producing personal bests of 13.59-seconds for 100 and 27.53-seconds over 200m in her young career to date, the Gumbaynggir and Kamilaroi woman operates on a simple approach to what can be a complex pursuit.
“Keep your dreams, don’t put too much pressure on yourself and enjoy it all.”
Coached by Zenon Kowalczyk and first competing in athletics at the age of seven, the teenager also enjoys NRL but says her sporting ambition is to make it to the Paralympics one day, taking the first steps towards that goal in New Delhi.
