esafety and online harm

Home | Info Hub | Sports Integrity | eSafety and Online Harm

Australian Athletics encourages all of our stakeholders, participants and members to engage with social media to share achievements, raise awareness, and develop healthy connections for our truly global sport. Unfortunately, the online environment can create negative experiences and wellbeing challenges.

In addition to complaints which can be raised with AA about online harm, the eSafety Commissioner can also investigate cyberbullying of children, adult cyber abuse, image abuse (sharing or threatening to share intimate images without consent) and illegal content. You can find additional information here.

The eSafety Commissioner website also contains sport-specific resources to support athletes, coaches, officials and administrators to manage online safety and respond to online abuse if it occurs.

AA is developing processes and resources to educate, better respond and safeguard against online harm - stay tuned.

We pay respect to elders both past, present and emerging. We are committed to a positive future for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and to honour their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this country and recognise the role and value of culture.
