A multi-talented athlete who mixes their time on the track with making music and a degree in cyber security, Summer Giddings’ selection for the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships is the proudest moment of their career to date.
Set to compete in the 100m T35 as an athlete with cerebral palsy, autism and a vision impairment due to a stroke at birth, Giddings loves training and says that staying active helps to manage both their physical and mental health.
Coached by Michael Hemmings-Jones, Giddings posted a personal best of 16.32-seconds at the 2025 Australian Athletics Championships in Perth to all but book their ticket to New Delhi – just one of their many achievements.
“I have just completed my Bachelor of Information Technology with a major in Cyber Security. I am also a Singer and am always on the hunt for gigs and opportunities to share my love of music.”
Formerly competing at the 2023 World Blind Games in Birmingham when playing tennis in 2023, Giddings is no stranger to the world stage, Giddings’ advice to younger people hardly comes as a surprise:
“I think the best thing for any young person is to try different things and pursue what you love. Of course, I would love to compete at the Paralympics.”
Accompanied by their seeing eye dog called Lassie, a female black labrador, little can stop Giddings in their day-to-day life as they regular sing in public spaces like busy shopping centres.
