The Australian Marathon Championships are one of six meets part of the Chemist Warehouse Winter Series.

Australian Marathon Championships

The TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS is hosting the Australian Marathon Championships again in 2026. To participate in the Australian Athletics Marathon Championship athletes need to be entered in the TCS Sydney Marathon and be registered with a state athletics association.
Athletes can gain an entry into the TCS Sydney Marathon by any of the following ways:

  1. via the ballot
  2. via elite athlete invitation
  3. via an Australian Championship entry for athletes who meet the following performances and are registered with a state athletics association.
  • 2:30:00 for men since 1 January 2024
  • 2:50:00 for women since 1 January 2024
  • 68:30 at half marathon for men debutants since 1 January 2025
  • 77:30 at half marathon for women debutants since 1 January 2025

Once entered in the TCS Sydney Marathon athletes should complete the on-line form to be recognized as part of the Australian Athletics Marathon Championship. There is no charge to register for the Australian Athletics Marathon Championships.

All registered athletes are encouraged to enter the Australian Athletics Marathon Championship, there are medals for each of these categories:

  • Open
  • 40-44
  • 45-49
  • 50-54
  • 55-59
  • 60+

Those athletes who want to enter the TCS Sydney Marathon via method 3 above should contact competitions@athletics.org.au. Please do this at your earliest convenience or at the latest by 30 June. Athletes entered via the ballot will not receive a refund if later wanting to enter via option 3.
