Athletics is consistently one of the most requested sports in the Sporting Schools program and we are currently seeking to recruit a Sporting Schools Coordinator (1 Year Fixed Term Contract).

About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Growth and Development department, with the role focused on helping increase children’s participation in athletics, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities. If you are a passionate about sport and physical activity, are a skilled administrator ready to take the next step in your career within a leading National Sporting Organisation, then keep reading!

You’ll work closely with the Participation Programs Manager to support program delivery, handle administration and reporting, and ensure a great experience for schools, coaches, and kids alike.

Your core duties will include:

  • Day to day coordination of Australian Athletics Sporting Schools Program.
  • Managing program administrative systems, processes, and compliance requirements with attention to detail and impeccable customer service.
  • Liaising with Coaches and Schools to ensure delivery of Programs.
  • Maintaining databases to ensure coaches have valid qualifications and certificates.

What we are looking for:

You are proactive in your approach to learning and eager to enhance your skills and experience. Someone who is a self-motivated individual who demonstrates a passion for sport program delivery with attention to detail, strong administrative, and organisational skills.

You demonstrate efficient use of time by managing workload with additional tasks and projects. You have excellent interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with colleagues, schools, coaches, and stakeholders to ensure programs run smoothly. You’re comfortable working across digital systems, managing data, maintaining compliance records and requirements, and supporting continuous improvement by contributing to the growth of athletics participation nationwide.

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience in coordinating the delivery of sport participation focused products and programs to children.
  • Experience working with schools and/or within the sports industry at a community level.
  • Outstanding verbal communication and influencing skills with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Tertiary qualification is Sports Management, Education, or other related fields (preferred).
  • A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA’s National Integrity Framework suite of policies including the Australian National Anti-doping Policy, Safeguarding Children and Young Persons Policy, and Code of Conduct.
  • Hold and maintain a valid Working with Children Check and (or ability to hold) Police Check.

Ready to do something you love? Are you passionate about working with kids to develop their physical movement skills, along with developing their confidence through sport? Australian Athletics is seeking expressions of interest from enthusiastic individuals to join our pool of casual coaches to deliver Next Athletics and Sporting Schools programs.

About the Role

Join the team at Australian Athletics! As a casual coach, you’ll help deliver fun, inclusive, and engaging athletics sessions in schools as part of the Next Athletics program and the Australian Government funded Sporting Schools initiative. Sessions focus on developing fundamental movement and social skills in a supportive and positive environment through games-based activity.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver structured athletics sessions to children aged 5 -12 years in schools and community settings.
  • Support a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for all participants.
  • Represent athletics in a professional and positive manner.

What We’re Looking For

  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
  • Confident communication and ability to manage and engage with children
  • Athletics experience and/or accreditation will be highly regarded, and in some circumstances required.
  • Availability during school hours and/or after-school time slots
  • Working With Children Check - Employee (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current driver’s licence (and access to a car)
