Australian Athletics supports the decision by Gout Gout and his coaching team for him to not compete at the 2026 Commonwealth Games and to prioritise his focus on success at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in 2026.

Competing at both events is challenging due to scheduling conflicts and locations, and given his young age, a focus on his long-term development is important.

Australian Athletics will be sending a large high-quality team to the Commonwealth Games, including many of the sport’s biggest names and stars across track and field.
