From the west coast to Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre, Australian Athletics has today unveiled the full Summer of Athletics calendar for 2025/2026, confirming a jam-packed season that will bring elite competition, community connection and high-performance athletics to fans across the country.
With 20 events across six states and territories, the calendar has been built to inspire the nation’s best athletes chasing world rankings, titles and Commonwealth Games selection, to the next generation making their mark on the national stage ahead of the World Athletics Championships.
At the heart of the season is the Chemist Warehouse Summer Series – Australia’s premier domestic athletics showcase. Stretching from January through April, the Series features the Perth Track Classic, Sydney Track Classic, Adelaide Invitational and the show-stopping Maurie Plant Meet – Melbourne (March 28), as well as a suite of national championship events including the Australian Athletics Championships, the Australian Athletics Junior & U20 Championships, and the Australian Athletics Half Marathon Race Walking Championships.
The meets are the crown jewels of the Australian summer, delivering World Athletics Continental Tour Gold and Bronze action, international showdowns and big-stadium atmosphere in front of passionate local fans.
“The Australian Summer season and the Chemist Warehouse Summer Series is where our athletes shine, our crowds come alive and our sport is at its most exciting domestically,” Australian Athletics CEO Simon Hollingsworth said.
“But what makes this calendar so powerful is that it stretches right across the country. From Canberra to Ballarat, from Perth to Brisbane and to Sydney, Australian Athletics and our partners are bringing opportunities to athletes everywhere and inviting fans to be part of something special.”
The calendar also features national championships across almost every discipline, including track and field, race walking, road mile and wheelchair racing, as well as iconic events such as Zatopek:10 which will host the Australian 10,000m Championships and the Stawell Gift.
And of course, the season finishes with a double dose of national pride with the Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney from April 9-12, followed by the Australian Junior and U20 Championships in Brisbane from April 15-20, giving fans in both cities the chance to witness Australia’s best and brightest in action, as they look to earn their places on the Australian teams for the Commonwealth Games and the World Under 20 Championships.
