The Sunshine State is bringing serious firepower to Melbourne for the Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics All Schools Championships next week, with a squad stacked full of emerging stars and record-breakers ready to make their mark.

From sprint sensations to middle-distance standouts and field event leaders, read about some of the Queenslanders to keep your eye on as they chase school student glory.

Jonathan Kasiano

School: Ipswich Grammar School
Club: Tigers Athletics Club
Coach: Di Sheppard
Events: U18 100m and 200m

After representing Australia at the World Under 20 Championships in 2024, Jonathan Kasiano returns to the national stage with his sights firmly set on qualification for the 2026 edition of the Championships. Training under Di Sheppard and alongside his esteemed fellow sprinter Gout Gout, the Ipswich Grammar student brings explosive pace, composure and big-meet experience to Team Queensland as he leans on his speedy 10.50 and 21.10 in his attempt to be crowned Australia’s fastest school boy.

Samuel Allen

School: Bayside
Club: Tigers Athletics Club
Coach: Stacey Taurima
Events: U20 Para 100m and 200m

Fresh off his international debut at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, Samuel Allen is ready to bring his new experience to Melbourne. Coached by Stacey Taurima, Samuel has proven that he’s a true big stage performer and his form continues to rise as he lines up in the 100m and 200m. Last time fans saw him compete in Delhi, he had broken both T37 records in 11.80 and 23.72. Can he start the summer season off where he left off in the green and gold?

Emma Fryga

School: Somerville House
Club: Thompson Estate Athletics Club
Coach: Roy Rankin
Events: U18 800m and 1500m

Middle-distance talent Emma Fryga has been unstoppable in the past year, winning both State and National Championships, hitting World U20 qualifiers and claiming victory in every single race she’s competed at so far this season. Guided by Roy Rankin, she’ll take on both the 800m and 1500m in Melbourne with poise. A natural racer with strong finishing speed, Emma is a genuine contender to keep her streak alive.

Nahkiyha Mullins-Walit

School: Clontarf Beach SHS
Club: Deception Bay Amateur Athletics Club
Coach: Michael Frawley and Helena Mullins-Walit
Events: U18 Javelin

Currently ranked as the top seed in her event with a throw of 54.45m, Nahkiya Mullins-Walit is ready to launch big in Melbourne. The Deception Bay Athletics Club thrower has enjoyed a standout season, producing a throw two-metres ahead of the rest of her age group and she is now primed for national success as Queensland’s leading medal hope in the throws.

Tate Van Camp

School: Brisbane State High School
Club: Ashgrove Rangers Athletics Club
Coach: John Purcell
Events: U16 800m

A name that’s fast becoming synonymous with middle-distance success, Tate Van Camp recently smashed the National U16 800m record and clocked a World Junior qualifying time in the process – all at the young age of 15. Coached by John Purcell, Tate is now set to bring that same fearless front-running style to the All Schools stage once more and could very well add another chapter to to an already remarkable start to the season.
