A fleet of national champions and record holders will spearhead South Australia’s hopes at the 2025 Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics All Schools Championships as Kelechi Ekwomadu gears up to be crowned the nation’s fastest schoolboy and Hannah Tourneur looks to continue her middle-distance dominance.
The championships will be held at Lakeside Stadium from December 4-7, with tickets available for purchase HERE.

Kelechi Ekwomadu stamped his arrival in the junior sprinting ranks with an emphatic victory at the Australian Championships this April, tearing down the straight in 10.40 (+2.8) to take down his national rivals. The Trinity College Gawler student sits third in the rankings for the Under 18 Boys 100m, but his trajectory indicates that he will be one of the toughest men to beat come the race to be crowned the nation’s fastest schoolboy.

Events: U18 800m, 1500m and 3000m
St John’s Grammar student Hannah Tourneur’s busy schedule at the 2025 Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics All Schools Championships is reflective of her class, flying to Melbourne with a target on her back as the Under 18 1500m and 3000m Australian champion. The 17-year-old has carved her personal bests down to 4:28.77 and 9:38.56 in those events with her distinct stride, and will be looking to round out her All Schools career with a bang in Melbourne.

Events: U17 110m Hurdles, Javelin Throw and Discus Throw
A versatile teenager who is the reigning Under 17 Australian champion and proud owner of the Under 16 national record in the 100m hurdles, Ken Ferrante Tanikawa is returning to the All Schools stage to put on a show. The multi-eventer takes on a unique set of events in Melbourne but won medals in both the 110m hurdles and javelin at the 2025 Australian Athletics Championships, now poised to take South Australia and Henley High School back to the national podium at Lakeside Stadium.

Arriving in Melbourne as the reigning Australian Under 18 champion in the heptathlon, Ashley James will make her mark across four events, led by her sprinting and hurdling credentials with the 100, 200m and 100m hurdles on the program. The Seymour College student will also throw the javelin for just the third time this year, flexing her strength across a range of events as one of the nation’s emerging multi-event athletes.

Events: U17 Para 100m, 200m and Shot Put
A rising Para-athlete from Westminster, Thomas Mattinson has already had international experience in frame running when competing in Denmark, known as ‘Tommy Turbo’ for his eye-catching speed. Coached by Simon Moran, Mattinson will also contest the shot put as a seated throws athlete, ready to lift his South Australian teammates with his performances across his three events.
