Pymble Ladies’ College and Caulfield Grammar have been crowned Senior champions at the 2025 Australian Athletics Schools Challenge, cementing their status as Australia’s powerhouse school athletics programs to round out an action-packed five days at Lakeside Stadium.

The fast and fun format set the stage for both individual and team success, as athletes represented their schools with pride across the Junior, Intermediate and Senior age groups – with six trophies up for grabs.

The Senior Girls silverware went the way of Pymble Ladies’ College who continued their dominance at the event, taking down St Peters Lutheran College by 15 points with a score of 298.

The team win was aided by brilliance from middle-distance runner Eliza Lawton who cruised to victory over 1500m in 4:31.09, while Naomi Krajancic blew away the 400m field in a time of 54.67-seconds – finishing narrowly outside her personal best.

Caulfield Grammar saluted in style in the Senior Boys contest with even contributions across the board, as high jumper Liam Shadbolt soared over 1.90m for the win and javelin thrower Cooper Acklom launching to 55.14m – scoring 162 points to defeat Brisbane Boys’ College on 145 points.

The Intermediate Boys trophy was secured by Marist College Ashgrove who showed both talent and teamwork to chalk up 240 points, matched in the Intermediate Girls by Meriden School who head back to New South Wales with the hardware after winning on  points.

Trinity Grammar School stamped their presence as a hub of rising stars when winning the Junior Boys title with 159 points ahead of Brisbane Boys’ College, while Moreton Bay College tallied 298 points to finish on top of the 18 teams entered in the Junior Girls competition.

On the individual front, sprinter Amaya Mearns (St Peters) impressed in her return to the national stage with runs of 11.72 (+0.9) for 100m and 23.97 (+1.6) for 200m, while Kelechi Ekwomadu (Trinity College) coasted to runs of 10.72 (+1.4) and 22.03 (+2.1).
