Welltegrity

Integrity is fundamental to safe, fair, and successful high performance sport. In high performance settings, 'welltegrity' includes:

  • Understanding and meeting mandatory education requirements
  • Managing athlete whereabouts responsibilities
  • Navigating online safety and digital conduct
  • Recognising integrity risks as part of daily practice

Protecting the integrity of the sport, means responding to threats of cheating which could be in the form of competition manipulation, race-fixing or the use of performance enhancing substances.

If you are ever concerned for someone’s safety or welfare, or have something you’d like to discuss related to integrity, please reach out directly to integrity@athletics.org.au

Australian Athletics and Sport Integrity Australia annually co-design an education plan to set the required and recommended education modules for various cohorts.

To view the education plan, and understand what modules are required for you, click below and view the education plan tab.

Whereabouts refers to an athlete’s responsibility to provide accurate and up-to-date information about their location to support anti-doping testing, helping protect clean sport and reduce the risk of unintentional non-compliance.

WHO is required to submit Whereabouts?
Athletes who are selected into a Registered Testing Pool (RTP) or National Testing Pool (NTP) are required to submit whereabouts information via ADAMS

Athletes on the Domestic Testing Pool (DTP) are required to keep Australian Athletics up to date with their current residential address via email notification to: lynda.gusbeth@australianathletics.org.au

HOW will athletes be notified?
Athletes are directly informed Sport Integrity Australia via email and provided with guidance on what is required, including how to submit and update their information.

More information on Whereabouts

A Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) allows an athlete to use prescribed medications or treatments that are otherwise prohibited, ensuring medical needs are met while protecting eligibility and clean sport.

The below are athletes needing to apply for an In-Advance TUE:

  • Athletes in the Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) or Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) testing pools (RTP/NTP/DTP):

  • Athletes selected in Australian Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth Games teams- not including Youth Competitions.

Those athletes that don’t meet these criteria, you should prepare a medical file in case you nee to apply for a planned Retroactive TUE if ever tested.

If any athlete or medical practitioner has a query in regard to the correct documentation or status of a particular medication email Australian Athletics Chief Medical Officer, Dr Richard Saw at richard.saw@athletics.org.au

Australian Athletics recognises the value of social media in celebrating performance, building connection, and promoting our sport globally. However, high-performance environments can increase exposure to online risks, including abuse, harassment, and reputational harm, which may impact wellbeing and performance.

Athletes, coaches, and staff are encouraged to engage online safely and to seek support if challenges arise. In addition to internal reporting pathways, external support and guidance are available through the eSafety Commissioner, which provides sport-specific resources to help manage and respond to online harm.
