RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
RPL – WHAT IS IT?
Recognition of Prior Learning (or RPL) refers to the process of assessing the knowledge and skills an individual has gained outside the Coach Education Framework (e.g., from their studies, work, or other life experiences). If an individual can successfully demonstrate that they meet the required competencies of an athletics coach, Athletics Australia will formally recognise these skills by awarding the relevant coaching accreditation.
HOW MUCH DOES AN RPL COST?
RPLs have a set fee of $99. This fee covers your first year of membership with your State / Territory Athletics Association, as well as administration and assessment fees.
RPL PROCESS OVERVIEW
Prior to commencing an RPL, please familarise yourself with Athletics Australia's Coach Education Framework and the expected competencies of each level of accreditation.
The RPL process is as follows:

- Purchase the RPL.
- You will recieve an email with a link to the relevant RPL assessment tasks on the Athletics Learning Centre (LMS). You will need to create a second account as this system is not linked to the Athletics Australia portal.
- Complete and submit the relevant assessment tasks.
- An assessor at Athletics Australia will review your submissions and you will be notified of you results via email. If your assessments are approved, the relevant accreditation will be assigned to your account. If your assessments are rejected, you can submit a second attempt.
