2022 Australian Track & Field Championships - International Entry

This entry form is only for International entries from Member Federtions other than Australia. All Australian athletes must nominate through their State Association. 

All international athletes must have achieved the entry standard to compete. All athletes must be fully vaccinated to compete. Anyone wanting to compete in more than two events please email Anthony Curry - anthony.curry@athletics.org.au before the close of entries.

AGE QUALIFICATIONS

Please ensure that the following is applied when selecting your team and nominating athletes for these championships - always subject to all other age restrictions contained herein:

•   Under 14 - athletes must not have their fourteenth birthday on or before 31 December 2022 (i.e. must be born in 2009 or 2010)

•   Under 15 - athletes must not have their fifteenth birthday on or before 31 December 2022 (i.e. must be born in 2008 or later)

•   Under 16 - athletes must not have their sixteenth birthday on or before 31 December 2022 (i.e. must be born in 2007 or later)

•   Under 17 -athletes must not have their seventeenth birthday on or before 31 December 2022 (i.e. must be born in 2006 or later)

•   Under 18 - athletes must not have their eighteenth birthday on or before 31 December 2022 (i.e. must be born in 2005 or later)

•   Under 20 - athletes must not have their twentieth birthday on or before 31 December 2022 (i.e. must be born in 2003 or later

•    Open - athletes must be born no later than 2010 – and always subject to all other age restrictions contained herein

•   Para - age groups will be Under 15, Under 17, Under 20 and Open

Under 23 athletes born in 2000, 2001 or 2002, can use the U23 entry standard to qualify, however they will compete the Open age division.

Athletes MUST turn 12 in the year of competition to compete in these Championships always subject to all other age restrictions contained herein

EVENT GROUPS

  • Athletes may only enter events in a maximum of two age groups and with the exception of under 14 athletes who may enter the same events in both the under 14 and under 15 age group, there must be at least two years between the age groups entered in the same event.

  • No athlete may enter the same or similar events** within the U15 and U16 age groups.

  • No athlete may enter the same or similar events** within the U17 and U18 age groups.

  • Para-athletes may compete the same or similar events** in one under under-age group only but may also enter the same or other events in Open. Entries for para-athletes in under-age events will be accepted in a universal age group. Where there are at least three athletes confirmed for an age group in any event a separate championship event will be conducted. Where this means an athlete would be competing out of their age group, throwing implement weights will be base on their age.

** Same or Similar event means 80/90/100/110m hurdles; 200/400m hurdles; 3000/5000metres and

1500/3000/5000m walk and each of the throwing events (regardless of change in weight of implements).

 

  • Athletes must be turning 14 years of age in the year of competition in order to enter any steeplechase event.
  • Athletes must be turning 16 years of age in the year of competition in order to enter any event in excess of 5000 metres or any men’s open throwing, hurdles or steeplechase events.
  • As the championships will be conducted using the vertical jumps starting heights and triple jump take-off boards set out in the Entry Standards, this should be taken into account when athletes are considering using the method of entry qualification. 

PARA-ATHLETES CLASSIFICATION

All para-athlete entries, must have a current National Level Classification or higher to qualify for entry into an Athletics Australia event. If the Athlete’s National Classification (or higher) is past its review date, entry will be at the discretion of Athletics Australia.

UNIFORMS

All overseas athletes entered in the Australian Track & Field Championships must wear their correct National Federation/State or Club uniform.

COVID RESTRICTIONS

Should the current capacity permitted for NSW (and therefore SOPAC) be reduced, the following may be implemented, pending the level of restriction imposed and associated risks:

  • Spectator restrictions

  • Timetable changes across sessions and if absolutely necessary, days

  • Events relocated to a secondary venue

  • Tightening of entry standards

  • Postponement or cancellation of Championships

Therefore, all attendees (athletes, families, coaches and officials) are strongly encouraged to only book refundable travel.
